Personal background
I am a Carl Sagan sympathizer. I'm from Florida, originally from NYC, NY (but I escaped), and there is no question that we are not alone. Why on earth would we be so arrogant as to believe that we were?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run SETI@home because I believe in it. The SETI project is one of the noblest that humans have ever embarked upon.

2, Sooner or later, SETI will succeed. For the impatient (such as me), that is not soon enough. The benefits of such a discovery are boundless. The dangers are nil. In fact, if anyone makes contact, send landing coordinates of my drive-way (where a sign already exists that says, "Aliens, please land HERE!"

3. My only suggestion is to expand the probing of the electromagnetic spectrum to be as all-compassing as possible. But I'm certain you're already trying to do that. :)
