Personal background
Hello out there to all those crazy lifeforms. I've been running SETI@Home for a number of years now and am happy to have been able to contribute to a project of this scale. I truly believe that the odds are against life not existing somewhere in the universe besides Earth...

I'm a Computer Repair tech from Santa Fe, NM. I mostly repair Macs, but have always used PCs.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.)Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? Well yeah, why the hell else would I be donating my CPU cycles to SETI@Home :D
If so, when and how will humans discover it? Who knows, but SETI could help.
What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery? They're limitless! Science, technology, politics, medicine, you name it!

2.)Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? sure.
If so, what information should we send? well, we'd really need to make something less specific than what was included on the voyager probes. It would need to be a world wide collaboration of our unified histories, cultures, tradition, beliefs, and knowledge. We need to ignore profit and realize that there's a bigger picture here, the more another species can understand (if anything...) hopefully the more they will want to meet us and collaborate with us.

3.)Why do you run SETI@home? I grew up on Star Trek:TNG. All I can say is, our future is in the stars. SETI@home is the only way i can currently help bring that future closer to the present...
What are your views about the project? I only wish it had more funding.
Any suggestions? get more funding :)
