Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The odds would seem to imply that life exists in some form outside of the Earth. It is likely that microbes could be discovered within our own solar system before the end of this century.
With regard to sending a beacon, we consultants think it more important to listen.
SETI@home is a powerful Distributed Computing Project and this technology could and should be leveraged to address other problems. It certainly implies that corporations are not achieving the full ROI on their computing infrastructure.
