Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
i think that it is only a matter of time before extraterrestrial life is discovered be it by remote detection or direct action.any society will tell you of the down side to ET's discovery but in my opinion there can only be more gained than lost.......i am also of the opinion that any scientist worth their weight would always be of the same opinion.....science in its self needs a degree of open mindedness to ever succeed in discovery ... blatantly turn and say extraterrestrial life does or could not exsist is nothing more than ignorance and any such person does not display the right attributes to be called a scientist!!!!!the fear of the un-known is a healthy one but at times man can be a little overcautious! when the discovery is made then let it be known! don't hide the information no one person has the right to keep it from the other it affects man as a species and not as an individual. should we put out a beacon???well from the moment we started transmitting radio itself we did un-knowingly, so yes why not!!!i run seti@home because its my way of doing my bit and when my pc idles it might just as well do something useful........i think the project is a great idea its about time something was done to silence the critics fingers crossed we find something worth while and we can silence the ignorant sector for good long live SETI !!!!!!!! NO SUGGESTIONS JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
