Personal background
Hello :)

Im from the uk near portmouth(Hambledon)where i live is very clear at night (very little light pollution)so i can see many satellites going over plus shooting stars etc its the sort of place you can sit in the garden and just watch the stars.
Im 26 and have been doing seti for a while now(55units)pretty small amount but i will continue as long as i can(the benefits of being able to build my own pc's so if the one i have breaks i can transport seti to another).
I have been out of work for about 5yrs due to ill health.
I have two daughters one 5yrs and the other 8 months and a cool cat named min he is a total black cat and a right menace:)
I stay up till about 4-5am every morning on my pc reading about space the universe etc and playing games like splinter cell and medal of honour and tracking satellites using skywatch as i have this thing where i just hate sleeping unless i pass out on the couch(plus its more piecefull when the kids are asleep).
my hobbies are computers and dreaming of being sent out to explore on my own in space(what peice!!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
yes I think extraterrestrial life exists and i hope we find them soon, its impossible to state when we would find a sign but with new systems coming up like the allen telescope then i think the chances are much higher and as for the benefits of such a discovery i think it can only improve the way we see this planet we live on ,such as possible technolgy improvements in space travel because one day this planet(earth)is going to be in a very bad way and reversing the damage is near on impossible so any help is going to be very needed in areas such as moving to a new planet eg colonisation.
sending a beacon is a good idea because if the worst comes to the worst then at least someone would know we existed and what we were, like the message sent in 1974 i think by seti with human dna and a starmap of earth and other such info.
I run seti almost 24-7 to feel like i have been a part of the search for ET but most of all im helping a project do work which would take far to long to do by themselfs which i hope(like many other seti users) gets us a little closer to knowing the big question(are we alone)i think not but thats me:)and i hope that if a sign is confirmed that the military dont hush it up as we all have a right to know.
The way i see it is that as im never going up in space then scanning using seti is the closest to help look for ET signs that im gonna get.:(
..keep the project going ..maybe having a version of seti which you could hear as well as see would be nice. keep it up!!!!
