Personal background |
I'm a model '73 fanatic who has been chugging along on the SETI@home project for quite a while. What am I a fanatic of? Well, the idea that we're not alone (that would be pretty arrogant anyway...), car audio, home theater, home computing...
I grew up in Sweden, but I have lived in the US since late '97. Me and my lovely wife have been married for about a dozen years now (November 6th, November 6th, must _not_ forget November 6th!!).
I am in no way affiliated with NASA other than by admiration. I've always been very fascinated by our universe and cosmology. Even though I grew up in a time when our solar system had 9 planets - Pluto just doesn't fit the bill. In the words of Neil deGrasse Tyson: "get over it".
I have been to KSC, and that was for me as close to a religious experience as I've ever been. One of my life-long dreams would be to work for NASA. Right now I'm a contractor system administrator for AWC, a part of NOAA/NWS. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I find the idea that we're the pinnacle of all creation ridiculous. And pretty sad. But I do hope we're ready to meet E.T when we make contact, or to paraphrase Sean Connery from Hunt for Red October: "If we meet the right type, this will work. If we meet some...buckaroo...?" I don't know if humanity is mature enough to actually make contact other than just finding out that there IS life out there. |
