Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am sure that extraterrestrial life exist but the distances are so enormous that it will prove to be very much an observing experience as opposed to a communicative one when we find it.
Of course we should transmit a beacon if we found an alien transmission we would certainly hope that useful information was contained within it.
I run seti in the hope that we may stumble across something in my lifetime.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
