Profile: Timothy "Medraught" Morty

Personal background
South African web-design/system administrator who has an interest in all things scientific. Not much of a stargazer myself but have been around my father long enough to take an interest in the heavens and what could lie beyond what we see and know.

Die-hard sci-fi fan as well, so always keen on seeing if we can prove that there is more to all those old stories than just words on paper.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've enjoyed being part of the program, helping in my own way. It's fun, it's not really something you have to worry about and you're part of something great if and when it does happen.

I believe there is something out there... though we just need to know what to look for. It may even be under our noses as we speak. Mankind will always yearn to find that which he knows must exist, yet does not... He seeks an explanation for these anomalies.

Certainly, scientifically we would have a lot to gain from contact with an interstellar race. Think of it almost as a Clarke-ian Monolith ala 2001 Space Odyssey.

As to transmitting... Aren't we already doing so, everyday... in smaller, less scientific ways.
