Personal background
~^~ Greetings ~^~

i am a simple girl, i am Gorean and i am kajira,
that says a great deal about me if You understand the words.
i once was the proud and devoted mother of an extrordinary little boy named Mark.

God called Him home one day from my arms, at the age of seven, after a valiant two year struggle against a foe bigger than ourselves.

it's name: neuroblastoma.

when the haze of unbearable grief lifted, i discovered a love and facination with... well almost everything online. surfing through websites would lead me on a vast and intricate journey to far and distant places, new ideas and intriguing people.
as chat venues opened and expanded and became more and more versatile, i met a facinating group of people and felt myself at Home.
i delved into the art of creation and began building webpages. my first was a tribute to my beloved son, with a bit of personal history thrown in.

hehe, my page building abilities have come a lonnng way since then... it's probably time to build a new more fitting memorial page for Him.

i have developed many relationships online, and some have taken me on journeys i could never have expected. no... not all good, but all educational.
the greatest discovery of all was to find myself. a rather surprising event considering the journey involved bits and bytes of data streaming through miriad phone lines and data cables and satellites, to be ultimately processed my the relatively slow processor between my ears.

but as results are what count, however long the process may take- our collective collaboration a case in point- my journey proved to be successful and imensely satisfying. a conclusion i am keenly hoping and praying will be our ultimate reward.

well wishes to One and A/all.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
i want to believe

who among us has not thought the words, even uttered them like a fervant prayer or mantra?

are we alone?

does anyone truly believe it is possible we could be?

an ostrich may feel comfortable in it's ignorance as it sticks it's head in a hole in the ground, refusing to see what is inevitably approaching. that however does not make the approach any less imminent. unless of course the one approaching pauses and takes stock of the ostrich and deems it such a simple and unenlightened creature that it is best left to it's own sub-terranean entertainments.

does that make the ostrich wise when lifting it's head from the ground and looking around it can take comfort in the empty surroundings, confident in the surety of it's own enlightened assessment that there was nothing there worth taking notice of in the first place?

i don't bloody well think so!!

so that is why we are here, looking and listening and searching and sharing what we find or what we don't find. which though not as rewarding, is surely just as important. knowing where not to look makes discovering where to look attainable afterall!

and as we search, and our abilities to search improve, it is unquestionable that the possibility of success exists. as to a time frame that is the greatest impediment of all. what distances are we in fact dealing with? how long to have the technology that will reach that distance with clear results?

we race the clock in pursuit of the truth.

we race ourselves.

and we race the cosmos. to find before time runs out.

for remember as our hourglass runs, so do the sands run for the object of our search.

well wishes One and A/all.
