Personal background
I am a 25 year old photographer from Wales, but now living in Kent, England. I thought I'd chuck my processing power to the SETI grind wheel as I think the work being done is very important for our future understanding of the nature of existance. Which as a stoner is something I spend all too much time pondering!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it is a mathematical certainty that other life exists and that at least some of that must be intelligent, whether or not it is physically possible to communicate across the vastness of space is another question, but if we don't listen we'll never hear.

The dangers of communication are limited, obviously the dangers of physical contact are tangiable - especially in terms of disease we may have no defence against.

However as contact is not on the cards we must listen and Earth should transmit a simple beacon - little more than a pattern to display we are here.
