Personal background |
A 39 year old former banker turned college student. I am currently studying
computer science at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, Canada (is
anyone looking to hire a co-op student?).
My wife, Patricia, and I have been married since Victoria Day, 1995 (that's
May 20th for all you non-canucks). We enjoy camping, hiking, cycling, and
spending time with our dogs.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Like many, I feel the universe is too vast for life to exist on just one small planet, and yet it may be more difficult to locate than the proverbial needle in a haystack. And what kind of life will it be? The aliens we encounter may be no more than plant or animal life, not the super intelligent little grey men of popular imagination.
I want to know if there is life out there. At the same time, I shudder to think of the impact encountering such life would have. It may very well be the catalyst to bring humanity together, a la Star Trek. Human history, however, would indicate that we are far more likely to indulge in some kind of galactic imperialism; exploiting that which we find. |
