Personal background
I am a 34 year old Peace Officer in Harris County Texas. Exploring the unknown is a natural thing for me and since my computer sits idle for a long periods of time I make the best use of it donating that idle time to projects like this. While not all religious factions are on the right tracks in my belief, the Megiddo church made one statement in their message that rings true as reat quote "A real mans worth is determined by what he does when he has nothing to do."

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We, people, are ignorant if we believe that life can only exist on this one planet. While in our solar system life may not exist, the vastness of the universe and number of planets only suggest that the probability of life is inevitable. Contacting this life may not be the best of ideas, but findig it would give hope that we are not alone. While movies portray aliens as violent and dominating using the human race for their own benefits, we realize that this may not be the case. We also have to realize that any life that does contact us may be far advanced past our scope of understanding. Are we willing to take that chance? Are we prepared to fight as one world if need be? In the search for life in the universe maybe we need to be cautious and understand that we have yet to send a man past our own moon in over 30 years and we are still governed by burning solid fuel at low speeds for travel in space. While new technologies are in development, maybe we have not progressed enough to encounter new life, maybe we need more time, but just knowing it is there would open new possibilities. Maybe other life forms already know about us, maybe we are knocking on the door and that life is looking out the blinds and saying "oh man, not them again, quick honey turn out the lights, maybe they will go away".
