| Well, let's see....I'm almost 26 years old. An accountant at the U of MN. I love sci-fi and fantasy. I fiddle with cars (I drive a '79 Lincoln Continental) and computers (a box of crap- don't even get me started!). I like Italian food. I'm a 20 year veteran of the MN Renaissance Festival (I play drum in a band there). 5'10", blue eyes, light brown long hair, and I'm going to stop now before this starts sounding any more like a Personals ad! :) |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
E.T.? Sure they exist. In a universe of infinite size, there are an infinite number of planets. Granted, only a very few will be habitable to life as we know it, but a fraction of infinity is still infinity. Problem is, the odds of an advanced spacefaring race developing anywhere NEAR us is are so small as to be almost ridiculous. In addition, why would they come here? Earth is such a boring little planet and it's inhabitants are barbaric (relatively) and technologically inferior.
So why I run SETI@home? Because I love sci-fi and I think it'd be really cool if we did somehow manage to find ET! |
