Personal background
Hello everyone. A little background on myself--I was born in Los Alamos, NM and I am really familiar with the stories from Roswell, NM. Growing up, those stories and the idea of life in space have always intrigued me. As a child, I loved to watch all of the science fiction shows on TV (especially Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.) Now that I am an adult, the search has not wavered.

I know live in Amarillo, TX and we have such a big, beautiful sky to look at the stars each night, I feel lucky to live here and be able to star gaze. I know the chance of learning that there is life somewhere out there during my lifetime is slim, but the hope finding of any kind of life makes the search worth while. SETI@home has given me an opportunity to help, if only in a small way, find life somewhere our there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When I joined SETI@home, I was more than happy to help in the search for any form of a signal that may be headed our way that could indicate life in space. SETI@home gives average people, like you and I, a chance to be involved on a global scale for the search for life in space. To me it was an opportunity I could not pass up and the more people who are looking means the greater the chance of finding a signal much sooner than later.

I firmly believe that we should send a signal into space to see if we can reach someone in our galaxy. I know that there is a chance we may attract life that may want to harm our world, but the idea that this new life would be intent on harming us is vary small. Besides, the time it would take for a signal to travel to a world that may have life will give our world more than enough time to improve its defenses just in case I am wrong.

While I know the search could take a long time, I am sure that when we do find a signal, or perhaps are visited by E.T., I am sure all of the hard work you and I are doing now will pay off in the end.
