Personal background
I am married with 3 bright children and a wonderful wife. I live in Southport, NC. I have a curious mind and have found astronomy a most intriguing subject for the majority of my life. Now soon to be 30, at the time of this post, I have found a way to help and be apart of discovery by joining seti@home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that is certainly possible for extraterrestrial life to exist. Although it is not a certainty, I believe one would have to question the probability for it to not exist knowing what we know today concerning the number of stars and galaxies. I have no idea when or how we will discover them but one can hope that it is sooner rather than later. The benefits of the discovery of life beyond our own solar system will likely be in the form of knowlege. I believe the dangers from such a discovery are no diferrent than that of the earliest explorers. After all Christopher Columbus certainly faced many dangers from his discovery of 'The New World' and like all great explorers the knowlegde of his discovery opened many new doors to society. I believe that humans already have been transmitting a beacon for many years now containing much information about us. I run seti@home to be a part of something larger than myself and to participate in the pursuit of knowledge. I feel that this project brings us all closer to the answers that our species has asked for since the birth of our conscience. The only suggestion that I can offer is to continue to do these kinds of projects for all to participate. The potential of one person to make a discover is amazing, but the potential for millions is truly remarkable. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
