Personal background
I am a Network Engineer/Architect currently residing in New Jersey (USA-NE). I joined this shindig with the guys from Artifact Entertainment while playing Demise, David Allen's sequel to Mordor (Computer Fantasy Role-Playing Games). I once had a dream to be a part of NASA (since crushed by reality, I only took up time and space in college), and I guess that this is the next best thing...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that ETI exists, although there is little enough *terrestrial* intelligence. We have already discovered ET life, in viruses and microbial form. If they exist then why couldn't higher life forms?

I would question whether we should transmit a beacon, as there is no assurance that we would attract *friendly* attention. Why should we hold a monopoly on violence? I always believed in being cautious when facing the dangerous unknown...

I believe that it is essential to explore new frontiers, and this is another way of doing it. I love the incredible response that this project has gotten and am proud to be a part of it.
