Hello;
I am a current system administrator who became interested in the Seti project when I learned of the NT command line version. Like many others, the graphical version was too resource intensive.
I use RamdiskNT (www.jlajoie.com/RamDiskNT) and load the entire program and data into a virtual disk. This seems to speed up the "crunching" by running in ram, thus removing the slower disk subsystem as the bottle neck.
Distributed computing is a GREAT idea, and once the business communities realize the potential gains and ROI on current equipment, I think that we will see many more "distributed" solutions. |
