Personal background
Hi, I'm a 19 year old Pharmacy student at the University of Rhode Island. Science has always been a hobby of mine and its really nice to see it in action... even if you aren't really doing any thing. Carl Sagan has to be my favorite scientist of all time. I remember reading his book "Cosmos" when i was in 7th grade and at the time it was the greatest thing to me. My friends always look to me as the know it all of "why is ____ happning?" or "why does ____ do ____ ?". Maybe soon ill be able to blame everything on ET. ;-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I had to do a research paper for an astronomy class at my university and i did it on SETI. Quickly, i found this page and decided that it would be an interesting program to have. So far, its kept my computer useful and its working for a good cause. Cant do much better than that. I think it's a great project and I hope that it can finally prove ET is really phoning us and not home. I dont believe aliens are among us and i dont believe we will ever see any in my lifetime, but it would be nice to know that they are out there. So, of course, this means im for sending a message to them. Maybe we will be able, someday, to send little "messages in a bottle" back and forth. I mean really aren't we all just stranded on a tiny island amongst a gigantic ocean. My favorite quote would have to be... "Everybody searchs for a reason to believe they aren't alone; its what they do when they find it that really matters"
