Profile: Mark D. Schneider

Personal background
I am now in my 40th year of residence in Garden Grove, CA being a native of our city. Currently I am self-employed as a driver for my nearly 88 year-old aunt. Being that Amateur Astronomy is of primary importance to me, it is obvious that this is what gives me every reason to pursue this quest.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I want to directly answer the questions suggested here:

1. Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? My answer is an entirely honest one; by virtue of the fact that I have not directly encountered any purported or "so-called" alien artifacts personally I must say no, but there is absolutely no reason to discount the fact that there is any evidence of alien activity here on earth. As for when and how will humans discover it? I think it will be only revealed if we are open to this eventuality. What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery? I would say that we must be prepared to expect sweeping changes over such an event.

2. Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? I would say YES. What information should we send? I think it should represent our humble need for enlightenment as humans.

3. Why do I run it? To share in any eventuality which may be revealed to us. My views? I think it is a worthy project to take part in! As for suggestions, I would say that we should be open to any further developments in the future.
