Personal background
41 year old Firefighter from Poughkeepsie, New York. My hobbies include ham radio, hiking, camping, and fishing. And on nights that I'm up late, I am usally on the radio listening for interresting stuff, of surf the web, or both. When the Leonoid Meteors came in 2001, I sat with my 2 kids, watched the meteors, and made some interesting 2 meter (ham radio) contacts.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I firmly believe that extraterrestrial life does exist outside our own solar system. Just as our ancestors searched for other lands and people, we too should search for other life in space. There is alot to learn out there. Let's do it. A project such as Seti@home is a great way for many to help out with the search. Just as important as finding a potential signal is finding areas that have no signals. This is so the areas for the search of good signals can be reduced to increase possible hits.
