Profile: Alessandro Manca

Personal background
I am from Pavia, near Milan, in Italy. I am 30 years old and I am studying for the Technical Medical Graduation to become a laboratory technician. One of my greatest hobbies is photography. I have also tried to make some shots of the Moon and the Sun: sometimes I have achieved not so bad results. My submission to SETI@home is the right chance to show my eclipse images shot in Normandy on August 11 1999. Here you can see one, if I did not replace the picture... ;-) I hope you like them! Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extraterrestrial life exists. I must exist! Why? Simply because I think on our good old planet there are not enough beautiful girls for me!
To be serious, I hope I will live so long that I could be witness of this event.

About the possible benefits or dangers, I think mankind should understand that it would not be an event which could change our life. It is like be careful about pollution: what we do now will not give benefits or dangers just to ourselves, but to our sons.

Yes! I think we should send a beacon! Why not?! There is no reason for not doing it! And even if aliens were hostile and minded to come and blow us up, I think it is anyway better to be blown up by an alien rather than an other human being. Do you agree with me?
For what concerns the information to send, I think we should do what Carl Sagan would do if he were still among us.
In addition we should send a complete selection of my best photographic works, astronomical and non-astronomical!

I am running SETI@home because I want my computer to be really useful.
Other reasons?! It is really exiting for me to know that somewhere there are other computers working to give a little contribute to the most ambitious processing work ever thought.
I think I should buy a most powerful machine to run SETI@home!

Contact me!!! In Italy and wherever you are, all over the world or the whole universe.........
