Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does ET life exist? I hope and think so. I am not sure humans will discover it rather than be informed when they think the time is right for us to handle it. I think the benefits of ET life existing and first contact being made (publicly) will be to bring about a realisation that we are in this world together, and that all our countries are one small part of the cosmos and should be united in taking the Earth forward to a new and "bigger" universe. The down side may be that we are either too primitive for any other civilisation and they disregard us after realising this, or we may be too advanced for them and be seen as a threat.

I run SETI@Home because it feels good to be part of a global project to do Something about finding out for sure. Although more likely to win the UK lottery probably, there is always the thought at the back of the mind that just maybe my computer may find something real out there!
