Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run this program because I like the feeling of participation in a large scale, global effort. Not many things give that kind of opportunity.
There is also a satisfaction of crunching data, and increasing the chance of finding an important signal. It doesn't have to be ET, it can be something else.

2. SETI@home project entered the culture. It's something "people do". Though the main goal hasn't been achieved, it served a purpose. I'd like the project to live for decades and decades more, because analyzing the sky for only a decade or two is not nearly enough for something on this scale.

3. Adding a feature that would pinpoint the part of the sky from which the current work has been obtained. It worked great with SETI@home classic and older versions of Starry Night Backyard.
