Profile: The Dreamer*

Personal background
Ok friends, something about me. I'm from near Bologna, Italy (a great place to live in), I'm 37 and I have a degree in Natural Science and a Master in Science Communication too. I would like to find something able to help this poor planet - something "ecological". Are there some little green men out there wanting to help? :-)
Anyway... I like spending time in front of my PC - of course I keep my Seti@home client always on !
Other hobbies: trekking, video games, writing, ufology (a serious hobby)... UFOLOGY ?! Do someone says UFOLOGY ?!?? Oh yes: UFOs are real, crop circles are NOT made only by jokers, The "X-Files" wasn't only fiction. Really "truth is out there" and someone knows...
Anyway, Seti@home doesn't search for UFO inhabitants, so read now my SETI thoughts.
A kiss to my special wife Ilaria and one for the little, little Chiara, our first daughter; greetings to everyone else. Keep crunching and GOOD LIFE !

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Obviously ET exists: an empty universe? An incredible waste of space! Only unicellular lifeforms? Statistics say probably there are many millions of civilizations only in our galaxy. So we could "hear" them, and we MUST try.
I think Seti@home goal is to find something about a civilization with a technology level like ours; we wouldn't be able to recognize, or deal with, different kind of communication forms. And maybe the beings "behind UFOs" are not interested in dealing with us, or not on these terms...
Benefits from the project would come best only from a civilization like ours, exchanging informations properly; but the great problem is the distance, so - maybe - we could only hope for one or a few messages, the "evidence". This evidence would be enough to change many many things, here on Earth, creating some serious troubles to politic, religion, power, and not only... I think only a little part of humanity is ready for this, but I like to think we will know in my lifetime: maybe we must talk about a possible, very dangerous cultural shock, but we MUST ready ourselves for this great possibility of growth, a milestone for human kind. Seti@home increases dramatically this consciousness, and I think this is the best merit. And a community with more than 5.200.000 users around the world is already a victory.
