Personal background
I'm a 40yo Applications Systems Administrator (UNIX: AIX, Solaris, HPUX)working for a leading ASP in the S.F. Bay Area. I am one of the company's Kintana Systems Administrators - there are only two of us.

At home, I have two Mac G4 dual processor systems (1-800MHZ, and 1-1.24GHZ). Both are running SETI@Home for OSX. At work, I'm forced to use WindBLOWS. I have one Dell Inspirion 1.18GHZ system w/ 384Mb RAM, and a Toshiba Tecra (333MHZ) P.O.S. These too, are running SETI@Home.

I'm an avid photographer. I use both film and Digital cameras. I play keyboards by ear (and damn if it doesn't get sore - LOL). I also have a Mead Telescope that I occasionally use to check out the stars & planets. 'Bout blinded myself one night... when I looked at the full moon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think space is TOO big NOT to have intelligent life elsewhere. I HOPE that we make contact with something/someone somehow. As to when. I have no clue. I just hope they're friendly. If _WE_ venture into space and discover some other civilization... I just pray that we don't blow it... by doing something stupid - seen too many Star Trek/Sci-Fi shows with that theme. I firmly believe that the Prime Directive - as defined by Star Trek - should be one of Mans guiding principles when we eventually do venture into space... beyond our own solar system.
