have a new fast (2Ghz) computer, would like to help out.

It's on and idle a lot.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. yes, maybe by doing this project, anytime between now and 20 years from now, maybe... Might not change life much.

2. probably not worth our time or energy. Our normal radio frequency "junk" that leaves the earth may be enough to be a clue if someone points their listener our way.

3. fast computer, lots of idle time. I rarely use more than 1% of my processor, so no problem in sharing it.

I would love to see some statistics and graphs about how the @home sharing is helping. Ie. # of users, processing times, amounts of info processed, in progress, and left to do. I see my computer is now working on data from March, 7 months ago. Seems like a long ways left to go.
