Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I'm convinced E.T.-life exist or have existed somewhere. The chances of us discovering are getting better by the time, and I think we will detect the first confirmed signals within the next couple hundred years.
I'm not certain we will understand them, at least at first, but we will be able to confirm they are extra terrestrial, and that will be most important.
Transmitting a beacon, doesn't make sense to me. The signal would arrive many years after all our earlier signals, and anybody listening would have probably detected us allready.
I run Seti@home, to make a little difference. _If_ we find anything, I can tell everybody I know that I helped doing it. If not, I've only wasted some exess resources on my computer, not to mention some electricity.
BTW. The picture is of my (now dead) cat, named Spot. |
