Personal background
I am a 31 year old Police Officer in Milledgeville, Illinois. I am an avid
explorer of things unknown. To anything which there is no acceptable answer, that
is where I can be found, reading, investigating, exploring.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I learned about project SETI several years ago, however I just recently
became involved in processing data. My old computer was not powerful enough to
run SETI, let alone do word processing with effective stability.
My new set is quite powerful, and I run SETI full time, even while gaming.
I think this is the most worth while collective computing effort extant. I
truly think that this effort shows the power of technology and combined resource
experiments is a viable means of scientific analysis.
My hopes are that one day we have projects dealing with mathematical string
computations, but also medical (DNA perhaps?) analysis. Maybe I am alone here,
but I think this project shows that we as human beings have the capability of
peacefully working together for common good.
From the outside looking in, I think we give the appearance of a world who
is just one step beyond the discovery of fire. Projects like this show that
not all of us are intent on destroying the human race.
