Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My reason for running "SETI@home" is to assist in the search in whatever manner is open to me. By using "distributed computing" it's possible speed up the project at a minimal cost. Granted, we may never actually be able to communicate effectively with any extra-terrestrial life due to the vast distances, but it would be nice to confirm their existence..
My only suggestion would be to let us know in advance whenever you're going to be working on the system.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
