Personal background
http://www.stargaze.ws

I have been an amateur astronomer since I was twelve years old (in 1952). The SETI project has excited me almost since the beginning, and I have around ten computers running it all the time.

I have been told that I am one of only two amateur astronomers in the world who is gay. I sure hope that is not true. I wish I could meet another with the same interests!

SETI is a project that takes us out of ourselves into something greater. I fully support it and the Planetary Society.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Just as did Carl Sagan said in "Contact," the universe would be an awful waste of space if it only were us.

I run SETI because I believe in the inevitability of contact with other sentient species. That is not to say that we'll ever traverse the vast distances, Einstein's predictions being what they are. But who knows?

As to threat, I decline to be worried about it. With GWB in the White House, there's enough other stuff to worry about...
