Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe we are not alone, I think we will know for sure within the next three decades. As far as possible dangers I believe we don't have much to fear. It is my opinion that if there is a race of beings out there with the technology to traval here then they would have done so already. Who knows maybe they have, however I do not believe they would hold off contact with us. Even if they were here to study us I don't think they would do so in a covert manner. We our selves study life both from a distance and interactivly with the species on this planet but do not hide ourselves from our subjects of study. If we do discover life in the universe it will be from a great distance. The posibilty is one I believe would be that if it is an intelligent race the closest we will get is signal communication that may take several years to translate. I think the SETI project is promising but have a feeling that any non-natural occurring signals may be too garbled or too old to be of any use other than for our scientists to be able to prove that intelligent life does or did exsist somewhere other than Earth.
