Profile: Debby

Personal background
I'm 31, living in Denver, CO. I was born and raised in Cape Town, RSA, and moved to London when I was 24. I only meant to be gone for a year to travel and see the world, but it's now 7 years later and I'm *still* not back!

I am a "Procurement Systems Support Specialist" (for those know what that means) and I do some volunteer work for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

I think I like staring at stars because of growing up in Cape Town and having plenty of opportunities to get away from the light pollution and really see the Milky Way in all it's glory. I have only recently peeped through a telescope for the first time and I think it's WAY cool!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I *really* think ET life is out there?

I don't know, but I do think that if we don't look for it we won't find it.... This is why *I* run Seti@home.

And if we don't look for it and it does exist and we don't find it before it finds us....

It's pure speculation as to what might happen, good or bad. And there are others eminently more qualified to speculate than I.

As for transmitting a "beacon" from earth, why ever not? But what kind of "pure" information do we have that we can be assured is a universal constant? Does 1 plus 1 equal 2 everywhere?
