Personal background
I'm a scifi lover who also loves real science. I play a little chess, and work at a Radio Shack near my home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q1 I not only think that other life exists in this galaxy, I believe it is almost impossible for it Not to! And I'm only speaking of our galaxy! I also feel that we will make first contact within the next 100 years, possibly even sooner. As far as the benefits and dangers, well, like all new things, there are
probably equill benefits and dangers, most not yet imagined.

Q2 I think the "beacon" issue is debatable but in the end I'd have to say yes.
The information should be exactly what we are now sending and have sent in the "Voyagers and Pioneers" However; If we Actually detect intelligent life, the
information obviously must change to something that is closer to "Starting a conversation"

Q3 Although I feel that my contribution is small, I believe that it is helping sift through the deluge of data that "SETI" needs to sift through with the ultimate goal of finding that one signal. so I don't mind running the program,
but i'm not a "Rocket scientist" and would like some laymens explaination of what I am seeing on my computer (Running Seti@Home).
