My name is Bob Knoerzer and I own my own security consulting business. I was told about this site from a friend and knew I would be helping out. The main reason for me to get involved was to contribute to the super computer. I believe we are at 15 teraflops. The fastest super computer is made by IBM and it is only 12 teraflops.
I then discovered that I also could help out the society and decieded to continue and load the program on all of my computers, all 30 of them. I hope to be in the top 10 some day.
Hobbies for me, I was a professional golfer turned computer geek and basketball. Spending time with my family and just trying to make it in this crazy world.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) Yes I believe in life out there. I am hoping to come across more human beings then aliens. I wonder where they are compared to us. Benefits to being found are learning and sharing. The dangers are if we just don't get along.
2) Yes we should transmit a beacon of current events. Maybe some other life form has been thru what we are going thru now.
3) Just to help out and enjoy being a part of a super computer. No views on the project keep it the same. Most important have fun doing what you do, you only live once. (or do you)?
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
