I'm not sure about extraterrestrial life, but if we live here, someone or something could exist in any other place of the universe. Only with serious research we will discover, and when this happen, the world like we know will not be the same.
We could transmit a beacon. About what kind of information I'm not sure.
I run SETI@home because simply I want to contribute with this project.
