Personal background
As a businessman from Utah, I have many hobbies including Minox photography, computers, graphic arts, reading and generally annoying people. I need to work much harder at the first three than the latter.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think Seti will ever find a signal? I think that is the big "What if?" question. If they don't... well nothing changes, and the government wastes more than the cost of Seti on luncheons. If we do find a signal however, our fundamental understanding of ourselves and the universe will be altered dramatically and irrevocably.

How many things with that little effort have the potential of such a dramatic effect?

In my opinion we would be derelict if we did not at least try on some level to answer the question.

And if we don't find anything, it was a cool screensaver anyway!
