Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Although I hold no unrealisic hopes for my efforts (or those of our esteemed colleagues), I do realise how huge the universe is. Given the size of or habitat, it's highly probable that we will encounter some kind of intelligence (if it exists) from our galaxy at least.

However, my main concern is what we do with the intelligence which may come across our little piece of the universe. If it contains information which is able to be capitalised upon, I hope that some US monopoly doesn't see fit to scoop it up for profit at the expense of humankind's enlightenment. - NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT - ONLY PRAGMATIC!!!!
