Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there is too much space to have it all to ourselves - simple logic.
Discovery could be a humbling experience, I don't think that will go
astray in society today.

Beacons .... well ... a bit of a waste ... the solar system alone is
a good beacon. If you miss earth once you're here then you should
be sacked as a navigator!

I run seti to be part of something bigger than myself and hopefully
bigger than the egos and expectations of the average person.
The project is simply a guide. We don't have the tools to seriously
look for extraterrestrial life ... our resolution is too small .....
we need much better tools for looking (it's like moving water with a
thimble rather than a 44 gallon drum) - this won't happen for many more
generations to come but at least we can say we started it.
