Personal background
I am a networking security specialist living in Utah. Though once a addicted BBSer in the late 80's, I had a period of time that kept me away from the internet till 1997. Since then I have changed my addiction to that of an online junkie.

And avid reader I am a fan of the late Douglas Adams. From reading his books to joining the site he helped to create (H2G2 (http://www.bbc.bo.uk/dna/h2g2/ )) I have been massively effected by his life. I have met any number of wonderfull people from all over the world that will talk about any topic under the sun. I converse with people through the miracle of silicon and IP datagrams. The time I have spent on H2G2 has been simply amazing and rewarding.

The H2G2 Researchers group has given a few ticks of our computers processors to the SETI@home project. I am proud to be among those that have given of their computers free time, some electricity and some bandwidth.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI will get all of the spare process time I can give them, as I feel that we should be looking for our neighbors. The infinity of space is such that it is impossible to think that we are alone in this universe. I can only hope that we can meet any other inteligence out there with trust and goodwill. There are far too many people on this planet that live lives of hate and avarice. Let us not extend that behaivour out into the galaxy.
