Profile: Dave Armes

Personal background
I'm 52 years old, married with a 3 year old son.
I work for Eli Lilly & Company as an Oracle Database Administrator.
I have a small family farm which makes us pretty self sufficient with none
of the chemicals in our food.
I enjoy hunting, fishing, wilderness hiking, football and everything my
3 year old can come up with.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Is there intelligent life out there? Why not? I don't know when we will discover it, but if we did tomorrow, we, now, would never be alive for the first face-to-face meeting if we had to go to them.

2. We have pumped signals into space for decades. If there is intelligent life out there that has the means to travel great distances, maybe they are on their way here. We can only hope.

3. There is too much data to be analyzed. I have the means to help.
I am very interested in the project. Since my system is always online and automated, I never know if it finds anything interesting. It would be nice to know.
