Profile: JohnW

Personal background
I live in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada. We have the "longest fresh-water beach in the world" on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron).

I got my first computer-related job in 1962, so I guess that makes me something of an old-timer. I have programmed machines in most languages from machine code to Eiffel and other recent languages-of-the-week.
Currently, I am teaching part-time computer studies at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. College enrollment is down this year, so I will be taking most of the September term off.

My interests, besides computers, are: gardening, sailing, classical music, theatre, bicycling, swimming, and just laying on the beach.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe we should continue to persue extra terrestrial intelligent life forms. We can always learn something from them and perhaps, they from us.

If the SETI program did not exist, it would have to be created, or what's our outlook?
