Personal background
I am a 31 year old from Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. I am employed as IT Manager at a large organisation where I am able to utilise idle CPU time for a worthy cause.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain that there is intelligent life out there...I feel that it's an awful waste of a universe if we are the most intelligent life forms in it. I am a firm believer that if other intelligent life is found (or if they find us!), they are bound to be peaceful, rather than us, who are the only species which seems intent upon wiping itself out.

I like to run SETI@home because we've spent all this money on computing hardware, we might as well put it to good use rather than waste all those CPU cycles. I continually remind myself about one of my University lecturers who used to say that "CPUs are idle for 90% of the time, and that's only when they're switched on"
