Profile: Alain Frechette

Personal background
I was born in 1963. As far as I remember, I always been amazed by science (astronomy, enthomology, photography and now aeronautic). I think the movie made by Steven Spielberg \\"Close encounter of the third kind\\" really change my vision of the world. I was a kid at that time and few years later I bought my first telescope (a 6 inches newtonian mount) with the money I earned from a summer job. Later, I shared my passion with younger kids of my neighberhood.

I skipped a chimistry classe to watch the launch of the first Space shuttle. I will never forget this moment.

Now, I dream to become a civilian pilot. Up there, our planet is so beautifull and fragile at the same time.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
For sure life exist somewhere else in the universe. Maybe we never found the proof of this, but we never know. That’s why I was willing to share my computer with SETI. It’s such a great project. Yesterday, I hit the 10K bar after almost 5 years sticking with SETI, and I’m very proud of it.

Each data unit processed is a small step for me, but may be a huge step for humanity. Long life to SETI.
