Profile: Jorge Bernal

Personal background
Hi, I´m Jorge Bernal, I´m 45 years old, Computer Engineer and I work for my own company. I´d like all kind of sports so as Martial Arts (Full-contact Karate:Kyokushikai), swimming, decathon. Computers are my work and my hobby as well.

I´ve got a small computer business in Guatire, Venezuela. I was living in England for almost 7 years between 1976 and 1982.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I´m basically inclined to think that there´s life out there somewhere. We cann´t be along in the universe. I´m a believer. Live as we know it may be hard to find but, there may be quite a few life forms of a different kind and some could be intelligent enough for extra planetary communication. I think it´s just a matter of time before some form of communication is established. When that happens it´ll be a glorious and historical day, One that will be remember for as long as we exist.

The Seti project is a tremendous and wonderfull one, which is based on Radio communication astronomy for setting contact in outspace. But We´re maybe missing out on the rest of the spectrum which is not being scanned and analyzed. I wonder if we (the human Race) are doing enough and on the other hand, we have to realize that it´s a vast and daunting task right before us.

The benefits and dagers are many. new illness, new discoveries, Resourses, but most importantly new understanding, culture, technology, energy forms etc...
We´ll have to start from the beginning to get understood. The Human spirit will win at the end.

Transmit ous position, words, pictures, sounds etc..

I run setiathome on all computers that I work with. It´s a way of stressing them out.

Suggestions: Keep up the good work Guys. Maybe, on the operational side I should say keep an eye on the computation system it has been rather sloggish lately, specailly getting data for the servers. perhaps the key word here is "redondancy" and simple better systems.
