Personal background
I just recently move to Texas after living in Pennsylvania for 25 years, and I love it here. I currently work in the world headquarters of Kimberly-Clark and Love working on my computer, surfing the internet, listening to music, watching movies, cooking on the grill and eating Texas barbeque. Want a plethora of useful links to the web? Surf my page called "The Link". But most of all, SETI is the best use of anyone's computer.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My religion says that we are the only livinig species in the galaxy. Physics and the art of "odds" constantly hamper this thought process for me. So I joined SETI to help either prove that we are the only ones, or to prove a whole religion wrong. Either way, I'm helping the cause. If we do find it, it will be within the next 50 years when technology will grow in ways we can't even fathom right now. Benefits are phenominal, dangers are immence. Yes, humans should send a beacon out to space, if anything, just for the sake of science. We should send the most simple information, like how to contact us. And if that happens, we'll show them the rest. Anyway, SETI, as a concept, it the most forward-thinking concept on the Internet. It uses your computer when you aren't and uploads the information via the Internet. Very intelligent. Just think about it... The Internet has a lot to learn from SETI... They will be remembered as "pioneers" in Internet history.
