Extraterrestrial life does exist. Otherwise it would be a HUGE waste of real estate. There are how many galaxies? with how many stars? Now we are discovering the planet forming process is apparently fairly common. Also life on this planet lives, even thrives , in environments we once considered impossible for life to exist in. Intelligent life is probably much rarer. In our solar neighborhood, maybe not. It depends on how old the systems near us are.
