Personal background
Hi There, I am from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and am 24 years old. Right now I am working as a web developer for a small internet company. I have always enjoyed computers and have worked on them since I was 5.
I have recently become extremely interested in astronomy. I also enjoy music, and am in the process of building a small star projector.

I am now 33 and back on SETI which is now running on BOINC. I live in Calgary. The star projector never got off its feet but I'd still like to make or have one. I think it would be a good conversation piece and female repellant. We can add that to my list of female repellants (none on pupose) which include coin collecting, bowling, concert t-shirt collection, and long hair.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I heard about SETI@home about 2.5 years ago and downloaded the software but unfortunately the firewall at my employers didn't allow me access! I have just again signed up for SETI@home and am 66% through my first piece of data and am up to 51h of cpu time.
With regards to the SETI@home project, I think it is a brilliant idea. What a perfect way to get additional cpu capabillities - through people who are dying to help! I still think however, that many people do not know about this and I will help promote it as much as possible. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to do this.
I believe this is a worth-while project. What if there is life out there that is transmitting radio emissions? If SETI@home wasn't around no one would ever know the answer to that. I believe SETI is an extension of the human race's need to explore.

Well I managed to reach over 1500 classic units of SETI CPU crunching and now am starting again with BOINC. I am still all for the SETI project and I still believe it is an essential step in moving forward. Selfishly though, I like seeing my stats go up and one day hope to discover "the" alien transmission. Perhaps we could go bowling, and then hit a Scorpions concert.
