Personal background
I'm just your average guy looking at the sky wondering if there is anything out there. My hopes are that one day we will find civilized beings elsewhere in the universe. And, what I really hope, is that they are vegetarians.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I love the idea, and the program. The idea seems very well planned out. I like being able to help search for aliens in new and different ways. The idea of making a beacon for other civilizations to follow sound great, but we currently aren't skilled enough to send a signal far enough to reach enough of space. I believe we need to research the idea and when we are better equiped to "hunt" for extra terrestrials we should construct a transmitter of some type. I loved the movie contact, because it made a lot of sense. If you are to send out a signal, it should be something universal, like math. Prime numbers would be easily detected by a civilized culture with a radio telescope.
Anywho, I like SETI and I hope they stick around for a while. This sounds like a noble effort to expand the knowledge of the world.
