Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think Seti and Seti@home are great. If there is someone else out there, we should be aware of them; also it is the only way most of us have a chance to contribute to scientific knowledge.

Finding other intelligence in the universe would be exciting. Certainly there are both benefits and dangers to such an endeavor; however I believe the benefits outweigh the risks. If there are other civilizations, they may find us anyway. Knowing one's self, one's friends, and one's enemies is always a good thing in my opinion.

Learning is, to me, the essence of being human. The process of gaining knowledge is more important than knowledge itself in that it encourages growth and stimulates discussion.
