Personal background
I'm male, born in Pireaus, Greece. Grew up in Canada, currently messing around with computers for the most part since the early 1980's, believe that these computers we have should do something useful when idle. I would also like to contribute to any reasearch being done for the human genome project and the up coming proteome project. I'm not in any university and have never attended any such facility, all my interests in science (physics, chemistry, biology, mechanics)is purely as a result of my own personal curiosity towards any advances humanity makes. Some hobbies of mine include eastern and western philosophy, amatuer evolutionary psychology( i.e. I just read up on the subject)cosmology, complexity, amateur musician, model rocketeer, and amateur astronomer(dabble in a little potography too).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If there is sentient life out there It must very old and ancient, advanced beyond anything we are. How much attention do you pay to a lizard? That may be how they see us. But I think they are sending and receiving messages, all the time, we may not have the technology to receive the data. All I know is if I was going to send a message to someone I would make sure that only the recipient could understand the message. Messages can be encrypted so that they can not be distinguishable from background noise. These aliens may have FTL(faster than light) methods of communicating, in which case until we evolve our technology we may fail to detect them.
